Article processing charges

Where a journal applies an article processing charge, the amount and currency are determined by that journal and confirmed after editorial acceptance. A request for payment is linked to the relevant paper tracking record; authors should not pay using an unverified link or unrelated paper ID.

Charges support the operation of the submission system, editorial administration, production, publication metadata, DOI registration, online hosting and delivery of the version of record. Payment cannot purchase acceptance, favourable review or a change in editorial decision.

Authors who have questions about an amount or payment status should contact the editorial office before completing payment. Any waiver or exception must be confirmed in writing by an authorized administrator.
